Shawn explores the complexities of human personalities and interactions. He uses bold, contrasting colors while maintaining control over the saturation and value of each color so that they become a reliable reference with which to understand individuals. The Fauvist movement has heavily influenced his work. Shawn received his B.F.A in Painting from Kean University in 2011 and he lives and works in East Brunswick, NJ. His work has been exhibited at different galleries across the New York and New Jersey area.
The bold, contrasting colors used in the forms created in my paintings create the same tension that is found in human encounters. Maintaining control over the hue, saturation, and value in each painting is my way of creating a more accurate reading of human interaction. In my work I want to control and unify multiple color combinations so that they can become a more reliable reference with which to understand individuals.
