Paula Pearl started her career seeing life through a lens. After graduating from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising Design/Photography, she began a career in photography. Though Paula has since spent much of her creative time recently working in pastel, her photography background has had a strong influence on the lighting and compositions of her paintings. She takes her camera everywhere she goes and uses her photographs as references in her studio to make nature come alive in her pastels. She is frequently drawn to scenes that show a quiet place, serene and sometimes ethereal, that comes from her love of nature and her admiration of the beauty all around us.
Paula is always open to new challenges, so last year she completed a pastel on a violin for the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s annual Artstrings Fundraiser, a project she found both challenging and fun. She exhibits frequently in the tri-state area and many of her paintings and photographs are in private collections. Images of her work and current exhibitions can be seen on her website. She is currently working as a registered nurse with adult patients, which she finds very rewarding.
