The computer has been a great tool enabling me to use my photographs, manipulate them, and transform them into something other. These images printed on artist’s paper are the basis of my unique prints. Then using the more traditional printmaking process I create new images combining these methods. The “clean” process of working on the computer followed by the “dirty” hands on printmaking process is a wonderful way of creating a unique image. The photographs I use are taken on my travels both near and far.
The collages are made from monoprints that are “seconds”. When doing printmaking there are many prints that are discarded by the artist for a number of reasons. Taking these discards, cutting them up, rearranging them, to create new pieces of work has been exhilarating and fun. I use some of the same elements that appear in the prints but in a new and different way.
