ABSTRACT PAINTING: EXPLORE, EXPERIMENT & CREATE - CANCELLED
Abstract Painting is a product of Modern Artists in a search to create a “purer” form of painting which does not necessariy have an identifiable subject as art commonly did before the modern era. Students in this class will be given weekly exercises to learn the process of taking natural or realistic form apart or “deconstructed” . By  doing this, the original subject is often reduced to it’s simplest components and this process will produce design elements or patterns or forms, not recognizable from their original source which will be used as the basis for colorful, lively “abstract” paintings. Artwork by Masters of Modern Art will be viewed and discussed to understand how these artists started with a realistic image and altered it through their style or “abstracted” it in order to create their finished artworks.
